Friday was a mixed bag for the RubberDucks at Canal Park.

The Ducks opened the first game of a doubleheader against the Erie SeaWolves with an 8-2 loss, but righted things in the second game with a 6-0 win in front of a season-high 4,150 fans.

Right-hander Thomas Ponticelli (2-1, 1.53) went five innings of five-hit ball to pick up the win for the RubberDucks (17-9) in the second game. He walked one and struck out three in a tidy 66-pitch showing.

Richard Palacios’ RBI single in the bottom of the first was all the Ducks needed.

Oscar Gonzalez highlighted the victory with his seventh home run of the season. That puts him third in the Double-A Northeast.

Chris Roller put it out of reach with a two-out, three-run tater in the bottom of the sixth.

The first game featured a forgettable five-run fifth in which the SeaWolves loaded the bases twice.

Alex Call provided all the offense for the RubberDucks with two solo home runs.

Shane McCarthy (0-1, 4.65) was roughed up for seven runs, six earned, on five hits in four innings. He struck three and walked three.
