Freshman Reanna Turk turned in a splendid performance Dec. 23 despite the Nordonia girls swimming and diving team’s 107-76 loss to Perry at the Macedonia Rec Center.

The defeat was the Knights’ first in five meets on the season.

Turk won both the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.54 seconds and the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.46.

“Reanna is really starting to come into her own and is learning how to push her body when it is a little beat up. She is fun to watch,” Nordonia head coach Glenn Yorkievitz said.

.

Mallory Ralls finished third in both the 50 freestyle (30.57) and 100 backstroke (1:18.05).

“Overall,” said Yorkievitz, “we had some great swims tonight, but our girls are swimming a bit tired right now and we were down a few swimmers as well. Perry has a really nice and deep team, and we struggled to keep up with them.”

Emily Schonauer captured the one-meter diving with a score of 189.75. Danielle Mellino placed third (111.1).

“Emily continues to impress on the boards,” Yorkievitz said.

Senior Maddie Fiorucci finished second (1:04.45) in the 100 freestyle and third (2:23.11) in the 200 freestyle.

Placing third were sophomore Ella Pendleton in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.47) and Alex Stalzer in the 200 individual medley (2:53.12).

Nordonia is scheduled to host Chagrin Falls Kenston Dec. 30.
