Aurora resident Tom Laubacher won the Ohio Golf Association’s Ohio Senior Amateur Championship, which took place last Wednesday and Thursday at Toledo Country Club.

The standout golfer shot a 36-hole score of 140 (69 and 71) to win the competition by a single stroke.

Aurora resident Luke Radis finished in a tie for third place with a 74 in the boys’ 16-to-19 age group at a Northern Ohio PGA Junior Golf event last Friday at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance.

He finished his round with the last of his three birdies.

Radis also finished 18th with a score of 95 in the boys’ 16-19 age group at a NOPGA Junior Golf event June 20 at Plum Brook Country Club in Sandusky.

Laubacher and two other local golfers competed at the NOPGA Pro-1 Am scratch competition June 15 at Mayfield Sand Ridge Club in South Euclid.

The team of Laubacher and his partner Mitchell Camp, the director of golf at Club Walden, and the team of Mark Bierak of Barrington Country Club and his partner John Lenton finished in a tie for seventh place with 4-under-par scores of 67.

The Junior NOPGA Championship is scheduled to take place July 29 and 30 at Club Walden.
