Package theft seen on video: A Forest Glen Drive man reported his doorbell camera captured video of an unknown male stealing a package containing curtain rods totaling $300 in value from his front porch at about 6 p.m. Aug. 11. Police said the male could be seen riding northbound away from the home on a bicycle after the theft.
Purse stolen at bar: A Cuyahoga Falls woman reported someone stole her purse containing insulin, a blood sugar meter and keys while she was attending a party at a Riverfront Parkway bar during the late afternoon Aug. 11. The loss totaled about $835, not counting the unspecified cost of the insulin, said police.
Money stolen from hotel: A Main Street hotel employee reported an unidentified male went behind the hotel’s front desk and took $1,300 between 2 and 3 a.m. Aug. 10.
Minivan recovered: A 17th Street man reported Aug. 9 that someone stole his 2000 model minivan while it was parked in the road in front of his home since the evening before. Police said the vehicle was later found in Akron. The man said the vehicle was unlocked but did not have the keys in it.
Thefts from vehicles reported: Police said they responded to at least five reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles parked outside homes within the same general area of the city over a period of several days.
A Grant Avenue man reported Aug. 9 that someone stole $20 and duplicate copies of his vehicle’s title and registration.
On Aug. 8, a Meriline Street woman reported someone took her driver’s license and about $20 in change from her vehicle and an Arcadia Avenue man reported someone took his wallet containing a bank card, credit card, driver’s license, Social Security card and $30 from his vehicle since the day before. Also on Aug. 8, a May Avenue man reported someone took two walkie talkies, two shirts and about $20 in change from his vehicle, with the total loss estimated at $100.
On Aug. 6, a Ninth Street man reported someone took a GPS unit, MP3 player, insurance card and vehicle registration from his vehicle, with the loss totaling an estimated $130, since the evening before.
Vehicle door damaged: A State Road woman reported Aug. 11 that someone damaged one of her vehicle’s doors by unknown means while the vehicle was parked outside her apartment building during the previous four days. Police said the damage was estimated at $200.
Baseball struck glass door: A Scala Drive woman reported someone smashed her sunroom’s sliding glass door with a baseball during the early evening Aug. 10. Police said the damage was estimated at $2,000.
Trim damaged on vehicle: A Cincinnati woman reported Aug. 7 that someone caused about $1,000 in damage to trim on her vehicle while it was parked outside a 19th Street home during the night.
Man found naked: Police said they cited a Silver Lake man, 40, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated after they found him walking around naked in a Third Street apartment complex parking lot at about 1:25 a.m. Aug. 11. Police took the man to his parents’ home and they took custody of him, said police.
Apartment entered: A Hillcrest Drive woman reported someone entered her apartment during the evening Aug. 9. The woman said the apartment had been locked, but police said there were no signs of forced entry. Nothing was reported taken.
Church window damaged: Police responded to a report Aug. 9 that someone used a glass cutter to cause more than $1,000 in damage to a window at a Steels Corners Road church since the evening before.
Breaking and entering
Equipment taken from garage: A Seventh Street man reported Aug. 8 that someone took a generator and an air compressor totaling around $300 in value from his unlocked unattached garage since July 21.
