Flash flood warning issued for northern Summit County

Weather radar shows areas of heavy rain in red and yellow as of 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for east central Cuyahoga County and northeastern Summit County through 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

At about 5:45, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms have produced heavy rain across that area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin before the warning expires.

Drivers are advised to stay off flooded roads, as most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Cleveland, Solon, Twinsburg, Warrensville Heights, Macedonia, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Aurora, Bedford, Bedford Heights, Northfield, Reminderville, Walton Hills, Valley View, North Randall, Glenwillow and Bentleyville.

Elsewhere in the region, some storms may produce heavy rainfall this evening, with localized flash flooding possible where storms persist.
