Police have arrested an Akron man who allegedly held a 50-year-old woman captive for 24 to 48 hours while harming her.

Police said Akron resident Stacey Roper, 28, tied up and physically assaulted the woman at her Brookpoint Village condominium. Roper is facing a first-degree felony charge of kidnapping.

Officers arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday after being contacted by the woman's employer, who she had sent an email for assistance.

The woman was taken to a local medical facility for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. In the meantime, police obtained a search warrant to investigate her residence, which resulted in officers seeking a warrant for Roper.

Akron police arrested him about 10 p.m. Thursday. He is in the Summit County Jail. An arraignment in Stow Municipal Court is set for Tuesday.

Police said an investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
