NORTHFIELD CENTER – Stuffed With Amazing Taste Food Truck, based in Macedonia, and Northfield VFW Post 6768 have teamed up to serve meals to go in the community.

Dan Molnar of Macedonia, the owner of SWAT Food Truck, said the joint venture started the second week in November.

“I became a [VFW] member, and I was speaking with the commander,” Molnar said of his business. “He made an offer, ‘why don’t you take over the kitchen?’ It’s been mutually beneficial.”

Clint Uhlrich, the junior vice commander of the post, agreed.

“Everything is working great,” Uhlrich said. “It’s helped our VFW membership, and it’s really put us on the map. We’ve really seen an increased flow of traffic. We’ve been kind of slow because of the pandemic, so this has helped keep us afloat. It’s helped them a lot too. Typically, winter is slower for small businesses like themselves.”

Uhlrich said some proceeds from the sales go to the Northfield VFW.

Molnar said that he and his staff serve curbside, and ordering is done online. He added that while there are a few dishes SWAT Food Truck patrons may recognize, there are other menu options as well.

“We have a totally different concept that with our food truck menu,” Molnar said. “We have some items from our SWAT truck and our barbeque truck, but we also have a Cajun seafood boil night, and daily specials, all homemade and fresh.”

Molnar said that he also has been doing “a lot of drop-off catering for businesses,” which includes individually packaged meals. Many businesses use buffet-style dining when hosting a luncheon, something that is not an option with the pandemic, he said.

Overall, the venture has been going “pretty well,” Molnar said.

“It’s getting busier and busier every week,” he said. “We are making some progress, just a matter of getting the word out.”
