HUDSON — Police and the Summit Metro Crash Response Team are investigating after a dump truck struck a car, killing the driver and injuring a passenger, at the Terex Road and Hudson Industrial Parkway intersection Wednesday afternoon.

City Spokeswoman Jody Roberts said the car’s driver, believed to be a 36-year-old Barberton woman, had just pulled out of Hudson Industrial Parkway when the truck struck the car at about 2:45 p.m. No injuries were reported to the truck’s driver, a 48-year-old man, but the woman died at the scene, said Roberts. Hudson EMS took the car’s male passenger to Akron City Hospital, but Roberts said she did not have any additional information about him.

Gary Guenther, chief investigator with the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, said Thursday that the cause of the woman’s death was determined to be “blunt force trauma to the torso.” Guenther said the woman’s name is being withheld pending positive identification.

Roberts said no additional information is available at this time.
