Main Street Kent announces Wizardly Week, July 20-25
Main Street Kent’s event planning committee, known as the “Mischief Management” team, announces plans for Wizardly Week, July 20-25, in downtown Kent.
Though the crowd-drawing activities of past events will be missed this year, the group has worked with businesses to develop a magically themed, week-long celebration. Over a dozen businesses will feature menu specials, wizardly treats, window displays, magical merchandise, and even some safely distanced activities.
From buttery beverages and chocolate frogs to wizard-themed tattoos and fun photo props, the community is invited to come downtown and enjoy as much of the week as they wish.
Handcrafted will host pop-up shops and painting classes (registration required), Popped! will feature their butter beer floats, Off the Wagon will have a selection of Harry Potter merchandise and take-home coloring pages, magic potion beverages for adults will be available all week at some of your favorite downtown spots, and much more.

New this year, the team has created a Sorcery Stone Search, an opportunity to get outside and safely explore downtown Kent during Wizardly Week. “Sorcery Stones,” painted rocks that have been conjured by a talented group of witches and wizards, will feature images and phrases from the vast Wizardly World. They’re colorful and infused with positive charms – which everyone could use right now.
Each day, dozens of stones will be hidden around downtown Kent. Find a stone, take a selfie with it, and post to social media with the hashtag #KentWizRocks. Then re-hide the stone to help spread more happiness. There will be several random prize drawings from social media posts at the end of the week. Prizes will include hundreds of dollars in downtown gift cards.
“We know people are eager to get out and visit their favorite downtown businesses, and have a little fun. Our business owners are just as anxious to see them, and want everyone to be safe and sensible while coming out to support local. We hope people enjoy Wizardly Week, and take the opportunity to make memories over a longer time period, without a crowded environment, which is how things need to be right now,” said Main Street Kent executive director Heather Malarcik.
