Some classes, limited basketball again offered at Twinsburg Recreation Center

Water aerobics, fitness classes added; basketball drills, practice permitted, but no games

TWINSBURG – Those who like shooting hoops and taking fitness classes can again do that at the Twinsburg Recreation Center, on a limited basis.

One basketball court with three hoops opened June 25, and are available Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., according to information from the city’s parks and recreation department. The hoops are open for those ages 14 and up with a membership; no drop-ins or guests are permitted. Hoops will only be available for four participants for shooting and drills only, no games will be permitted. Those wishing to use the basketball hoops must bring their own ball and remain six feet apart. No one under the age of 16 will be permitted after 4:30 p.m. without a parent.

Some exercise classes also started the week of June 22. Currently offered are Power Circuit on Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m., Step Interval on Thursdays from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., and Triple Threat on Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m. Classes are limited to 15 people. Also starting the week of June 22 are water aerobics classes.

Fitness center information

The fitness center will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; it will be closed from 1 to 3 p.m. for deep cleaning. It will be open noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays and closed Sundays. The center will only be open to fitness center members. There will be no guests or drop-ins allowed. Those with a 24/7 pass will have their fee credited to their parks ad recreation account, and members who are 15 years and younger will have their membership frozen.

Those with memberships who wish to return to the fitness center must fill out a form and turn it in; otherwise, memberships will remain frozen.

Several features will be unavailable, including the Kid Park, the Burg Café, Synergy Room, Spinning Room and Party Room.

Water fountains will be limited to the touch-free bottle filling units. Locker and shower facilities will be unavailable. Restrooms and sinks will be open.

The Twinsburg Recreation Center was closed in mid-March due to the pandemic; it reopened on a limited basis in early June.
