Stow-Munroe Falls school board reviews allegation that teacher made racist comments on social media

STOW — City school district officials are reviewing a recent social media post in which a district teacher allegedly made racially offensive comments.

The Stow-Munroe Falls School Board of Education posted the following statement on its Twitter account @SMFSchools and on its Facebook page: “We are aware of the social media conversation and speculation about offensive comments allegedly made by one of our teachers. The matter is under review. There is no place for that kind of language or any form of racism or discrimination in Stow-Munroe Falls Schools. We recognize that this is a fragile time for our nation and our community. We are distressed by events such as these, which continue to tear us apart at a time we should be coming together to address issues of serious concern.”

The comments were given by Jason Whitacre, president of the Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education.

Calls and emails to Whitacre and Stow-Munroe Falls Superintendent Tom Bratten seeking further information and comments were not immediately returned.
