Learned Owl in Hudson hosts author events

Kent Weeklies
The Learned Owl Books Shop in Hudson is hosting a pair of authors this week, with audience restrictions.

The Learned Owl Book Shop is hosting Jenn Harney on Sept. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. for a signing of her new children’s book "Swim Swim Sink." When one little duck keeps sinking, it relies on duckling ingenuity to stay afloat. This new storybook is fun for the whole family, so attendees should stop by and grab a copy of this new tale.

The shop will host William Melver on Sept. 13 from 2-4 p.m. for a signing of his new autobiography “An American Samurai.” An American-born young mother of Japanese descent gives birth to her first son in Mukden, Manchuria. It’s 1940 and Japan has not entered the War yet, but for a decade, it has been slowly occupying and colonizing all of Asia, including China. Nabeshima Norio, aka Bill Melver, describes his life as an American Samurai, raised in a value system, steeped in the traditions of the samurai code and how those values are sorely needed in America today.

Be advised that although the store is currently open at a somewhat normal capacity, it is still possible the events will be canceled or rescheduled due to COVID-19. Only 12 customers will be allowed in the store at a time for health and safety reasons. All customers must be wearing a face covering/mask. If the weather permits, these events will take place outside in front of The Learned Owl to allow for more interaction with the authors.

The Learned Owl Book Shop is at 204 N. Main St. Call the store at 330-653-2252 for more information.
