After extensive consultation with Hudson Community Education and Recreation staff and HCSD administrators regarding the health and safety of students, staff and community members, HCER director Meredith Zaffrann decided to cancel all HCER sports camps and programming that were set to take place in May and June.

All sports camps, day camps, enrichment camps are canceled. Hudson Kiwanis Safety Town also is canceled. Full refunds will be issued to participants who have already signed up.

In early June, HCER staff will review the possibility of moving forward with camps and programs for the remainder of summer.

Citing public health safety concerns about the COVID-19 virus, Zaffrann felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented situation.

"I am very disappointed that we are unable to hold our camps and programs as originally planned, but we know it’s the right decision," Zaffrann. "The safety of our staff, students and community is our number one priority.

"We are working with our independent camp instructors to put together virtual camps and other activities that will keep kids busy and excited this summer. Please watch our Facebook and Twitter accounts for the latest information."
