The Aurora wrestling team is in third place at a 44-team district tournament at Alliance High School.

The Greenmen scored 85.5 points Friday. Louisville is in first place with 91 points and Mentor Lake Catholic is in second place with 86.5 points. The tournament is scheduled to resume Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

A total of 11 Aurora wrestlers competed at the tournament. Ten of them still have a chance to advance to the state competition heading into Saturday’s consolation rounds.

Sophomore Dylan Fishback, who was the state runner-up at 152 pounds last winter, punched his ticket to the 160-pound semifinals after earning two pins (1 minute, 32 seconds and 1:47).

Sophomore Evan Anderson also earned two pins to reach the semifinals at 195 pounds (2:00 and 2:34).

Also earning two pins was senior David Cumberledge at 145 pounds (2:40 and 57 seconds).

Other Greenmen who qualified for the semifinals are senior Ethan Anderson (170), who scored a pin in 1:47 and won an 11-4 decision; junior Antwan Sagaris (120), who scored a pin in 3:31 and and won a 10-8 decision; sophomores Codie Cuerbo (106), who earned 17-0 and 15-2 decisions, respectively; Nic Willingham (138), who earned a pin in 1:05 and a 4-0 decision; and Ty Lillard (152), who earned 16-0 and 17-2 technical falls, respectively.

Other Aurora wrestlers who are competing in the consolation brackets are juniors Robbie Sagaris, who recorded a pin in 58 seconds at 113 pounds after losing his first match, and Brian Kennedy, who earned a pin (2:06) at 132 pounds after losing his first match.
