Tallmadge graduate Phillip Glasser, a sophomore infield on the Youngstown State University baseball team, has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week.
Glasser earned weekly league honors for the first time in his career.
Glasser batted .462 and slugged .692 with six hits, including a home run and three RBIs in 13 at bats over three games at Abilene (Texas) Christian.
He scored three runs and had nine total bases, one walk and a .500 on-base percentage in helping the Penguins to a pair of victories and the series’ win.
Glasser went 2-for-5 with a single and his first career home run in YSU's 4-2 win last Friday. He followed that by going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored in a 9-0 victory in the series finale on Saturday.
Glasser's four hits in the contest marked a career high. The sophomore also walked and scored a run in the series opener last Thursday.
