As the Twinsburg High ice hockey squad looks toward the post season, senior leadership will be important as a few athletes may hit the ice for the final time in their career.

The post season brackets were revealed and 10-year head coach Jim DiRosa is accustomed to challenging matchups early on in tournament action.

Twinsburg will compete at the Kent State University qualifying round of the state tournament.

As the 11th seed at the KSU bracket, the Tigers will play a first-round test Saturday against Hunting Valley University School, which is the fourth seed. The puck will be dropped at 3 p.m. at KSU.

DiRosa’s senior class is small, but good. It includes Zak Filler, Nick Whitelaw, Travis Poznik, and Antonio Bennardo.

“Antonio Bennardo received all-league honorable mention this season,” said the veteran head coach of the recent announcement.

The first round winner will play Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. against the winner of Hudson (sixth seed) and Mayfield (16th seed) at KSU.

Gates Mills Gilmour Academy is the top seed, followed by Mentor, Shaker Heights, and University School.
