Twinsburg’s ice hockey team lost an 11-1 decision Saturday to Chagrin Falls as the Tigers prepared for this year’s postseason.

The youthful Tigers have been improving under 10-year head coach Jim DiRosa.

Junior Ian Lashua scored the Tigers’ lone tally as he hit the nets at the 13:39 mark of the first period to give Twinsburg an early 1-0 lead over Chagrin.

Chagrin scoring leader Garrin Bunker registered the first of his four goals to tie it up 1-1 at the 9-minute mark of the first period.

However, the scoring pace picked up in the second period. It was Chagrin that exploded for four goals to break the game open.

Sophomore goalie Mark Schroeder posted 27 saves for the Tigers.

Twinsburg lost 11-1 to Lakewood on Feb. 2.

Senior Travis Poznik had the assist of the Lashua goal in the loss to Lakewood.

Other seniors on the roster are longtime contributors Nick Whitelaw, Zak Filler, and Antonio Bennardo.

Key juniors for the Tigers include Colby Smith, Andrew Henderson, Matt Bierworth, and Chase Lowy.

Sophomores include Cassie Whitelaw, Cody Preston, and Sarah Zammikiel.

DiRosa, who is looking forward to the post season tournament draw, has used a variety of lineups and athletes this season as Tigers build off of experience.

The Tigers freshman class includes Sean Shirokov, Aiden Holt, Aidan Johnston, Jackson Smith, and Arianna Bennardo.
