The Aurora high school ice hockey squad got off to a roaring start in the Parma Martin Luther King Jr. Tournament with a lopsided 9-0 victory over Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
The contest took place Saturday at Michael Ries Ice Rink in Parma.
The Greenmen (14-7) took command early, scoring three goals in the opening period. They made it 7-0 after two periods and didn’t look back the rest of the way.
Freshman Zane Martin led the way for Aurora with a goal and two assists.
Sophomore Mike Mancine and junior Cameron Mullin each had two goals. Seniors Patrick Murray and Jack McElwee and freshmen Conor McMahon and Will Genovese each had a goal and an assist.
Seniors Maxx Goldston and Sevi Sharrotta and junior Drew Pfiffner each had an assist.
Greenmen junior goaltender Nolan Sullivan stopped all 16 shots for his fourth shutout of the season.
Goalie JT Nichols made 31 saves in net for the Royals, who fell to 4-11 overall.
