The rough season for the Tallmadge boys basketball team continued.
The Blue Devils suffered a humbling 57-27 defeat to host Highland Friday in Granger Township.
The Hornets (4-6, 2-4) outscored Tallmadge 14-2 in the first eight minutes and didn’t look back.
Tallmadge also was outscored 21-5 in the third quarter.
"The funny thing is, we moved the ball from the start of the game until the end of the game as well as we have all season," Blue Devils head coach Bill Johnson said. "We got really good looks. We just could not get one to go down.
"I truly thought we could make a little run in the second half because we had played pretty good defense all night."
Brandon Heigelmann scored a team-high nine points for Tallmadge (4-8, 2-5).
"Brandon played one of his most complete games of the season," Johnson said.
In the end, the Blue Devils just couldn’t put the ball in the basket. Tallmadge missed 44 of its 54 shots and was 3-of-26 from 3-point range.
"Even though the score ended the way it did, I liked the way we played the game [Friday]," Johnson said. "I am very positive about what we have going, moving forward."
