Two silvers and now, two golds.

Not a bad start to the season for the Hudson gymnastics team.

The Explorers picked up their second consecutive victory after easily winning a six-team meet Sunday at Lake Erie Gymnastics School in Mentor.

Hudson, which placed fifth at the state competition last winter, scored 136.8 points. Chardon was the runner-up with 129.4 points and Mentor’s B team took third with a score of 117.65 points.

Lindsey Havens continued her fine season for the Explorers.

She placed first in the all-around competition with a score of 35.3 points. Havens also took first on the floor exercise (9.05) and the uneven parallel bars (8.8), second on the balance beam (8.7) and third on vault (8.75).

Teammate Ava Guistino placed second in the all-around competition with a score of 34.25. She captured second on the bars (8.5), third on the beam (8.65), fourth on vault (8.45) and ninth on the floor (8.55).

Hudson also had two other all-around performers finish in the top seven.

Julia Petty, a two-time state qualifier, placed third with a score of 34.15. She won the beam competition (8.85) and finished second on vault (8.85) and third on the floor (8.9). Petty also placed sixth on the bars (7.55).

Alyssa Bezdek, who advanced to the state meet last year, had a seventh-place all-around score of 32.2. She finished third on the floor (8.9), fourth on the bars (8.1) and 10th on vault (8.1).

Two other Explorers had two-seven finishes in multiple events.

Lydia Redd placed fifth on the floor (8.85) and tied for seventh on the bars (7.5). Abby Young added seventh-place scores on the floor (8.7) and vault (8.25).
