The Tallmadge wheelchair basketball team improved to 5-1 after earning a convincing 38-16 victory over host Jackson Wednesday in Jackson Township.
The Blue Devils outscored the Polar Bears 10-2 in the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way.
Isaiah Johnson led Tallmadge with 16 points and Brennan Heavilin added 12 points for the Blue Devils. Sammy Blatt scored four points and Cerafina Currey, Courtney Kirsch and Emma Allen each had two points for Tallmadge.
"It's the first year for the Jackson program and they just don't have a lot of kids with experience," Blue Devils head coach Thomas Linder said. "Most of our players have at least three years of playing and practice experience and it shows.
"At the same time, we have to continue to work to get better regardless of our opponent. We have to focus on our team improving each game. We have led at the end of the first quarter in every one of our games and those quick starts have led us to wins in five of six games.
"We have had great performances from our seniors so far this year and [Wednesday] was no different as both Brennan and Isaiah were outstanding. Six different players in the scoring column is always a good thing and I love it when we can get that many players involved."
