The Tallmadge wheelchair basketball team picks up a pair of wins in Austintown Saturday.

The Blue Devils posted a 41-19 victory over Massillon and a 32-12 win over Austintown-Fitch.

Against Massillon, Tallmadge took a 29-13 lead at halftime and didn’t look back.

Brennan Heavilin led the Blue Devils with 14 points and also grabbed his share of rebounds. Isaiah Johnson added 13 points and seven assists for Tallmadge.

Also contributing to the Blue Devils were Rory Murphy (six points), Cerafina Currey (four points) and Emma Allen (four points).

"We have been a very good team at the start of games and that continued this weekend," Tallmadge head coach Thomas Linder said. "We were very good in transition and got a lot of layups. We rebounded well and had good outlet passes to start several fast breaks.

"We have a lot of experience on this team and it really shows. We run our plays very well and often find our second and third options off those plays. Having great senior leadership from Isaiah, Brennan and Rory is awesome for our younger players. Those three took charge and had outstanding numbers across the board."

Against Fitch, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead and stayed in control the rest of the way.

Johnson led the way with 18 points and six assists and Heavilin and Currey each had six points, Murphy added two points for Tallmadge. Once again, Heavilin was the team’s leading rebounder.

"We came out of the gates with an attitude and played aggressive on defense. We turned their mistakes into points and really executed well on the offensive half. When we move the ball like we did today in both games we are not only tough to beat we are a lot of fun to watch. In both games we had all nine players see a considerable amount of floor time. You can really see the younger kids growing in confidence from getting a lot of game experience."
