Aurora senior shortstop Will Carpenter signed a National Letter of Intent Wednesday to continue his academic and baseball careers at Penn State University in College Station, Pennsylvania.
Carpenter has been the team’s starting shortstop since his freshman year. He has a .475 career batting average in postseason play and is a four-time Under Armour Preseason All-American and a three-time Perfect Game Preseason All-American.
Carpenter, who earned first-team Suburban League American Conference honors in 2019, batted .354 with 23 hits, 14 RBIs, 13 runs scored, eight stolen bases and six doubles during the spring. He also received honorable mention to the Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association all-district team last season.
Carpenter, who received American Conference honorable mention in 2018, is the youngest student athlete to commit to a Division I college in Aurora athletics’ history.
