A trio of junior Hudson golfers were honored by the Northern Ohio Section of the PGA with Player-of-the-Year awards for their stellar play during the 2019 Northern Ohio PGA junior season.
Andrew Yard, Emily Burling and Dexter James were honored by the Northern Ohio PGA Monday at the Blair Conference Center in Westfield Center.
Each honoree received a Player-of-the-Year plaque and a personalized embroidered golf bag from the NOPGA.
Andrew Yard, a sophomore at Hudson High School was named the Player of the Year in the boys’ age 11-to-15 age group.
Yard competed in 15 events and finished first four times while compiling 2,202.33 points. He finished in the top 10 in 12 events and had a second-place finish at the Kenny Novak Tour Championship at Club Walden in Aurora.
Emily Burling, a seventh-grade student at Hudson Middle School, was named the Player of the Year in the girls 12-15 Futures’ age group. Burling competed in seven events and finished first five times. including the Kenny Novak Tour Championship. She compiled 750 points and finished in the top three in all seven of her events.
Dexter James, a fifth-grade student at East Woods Elementary School, was named the Player of the Year in the boys’ 8-11 Futures’ age group.
Dexter competed in seven events and won three times, compiling 640 points. He finished in the top four in all seven events and had a second-place finish at the Kenny Novak Tour Championship.
