The Western Reserve Academy football team concluded a successful 2019 season with a 19-14 victory over host Linsly Saturday in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Phil Kettl scored the game-winning touchdown on a read option with 10 minutes, 46 seconds remaining in the game.

The Pioneers, who finished 6-3 in 2019, trailed 14-0 at halftime. Darius McKenzie got Reserve on the board when he took a kickoff back 52 yards for a touchdown with 8:16 remaining in the third quarter. McKenzie had eight tackles, including four sacks.

Less than four minutes later, Ogden Andrew got into the act when he found the end zone on a 57-yard run. Andrew finished with 171 yards in 20 rushing attempts.

Kettl, who ran for 52 yards on 10 carries, put the game away when he picked up a first down late on a running play. Andrew also had an interception and Gavin Lawlor had two sacks for WRA.

David Dobbins forced a fumble after getting a sack and Roman LaBrosse recovered a fumble for the Pioneers.

Reserve’s Hunter Fitzpatrick finished with eight tackles.
