The Western Reserve Academy boys soccer team is not eligible to compete the state tournament.
But the Pioneers sure got a nice consolation prize.
Reserve triumphed in all three of its games to win the Midwest Prep tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday at Kiski School in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania.
The Pioneers captured the title with a 2-0 victory over Kiski. Orion Mills scored both goals and Luiz Rosa da Silva and Henry Ong each had one assist.
Reserve goalkeeper Sebastian Staddon made seven saves. Kiski had a 7-6 edge in shots on goal and a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
WRA, which was ranked ninth in the final Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association state poll, finished 13-2-4 in 2019.
