The Aurora girls cross country team advanced to the Division I regional competition Saturday.

The Greenmen placed third with 94 points at a 12-team district meet at Trumbull County Fairgrounds in Cortland.

Hudson easily won the competition with 41 points. Warren Howland was the runner-up with 84 points. Also qualifying were Boardman (106) and Twinsburg (115).

Howland freshman Megan Hipple won the race by more than 16 seconds. She crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 56.04 seconds. A total of 92 runners competed.

Freshman Grace Barto led the Greenmen with a seventh-place time of 19:31.21.

Rounding out the top five for Aurora were Victoria Blechschmid (22nd, 20:13.84), Karsen Zabell (25th, 20:25.29), Stephanie Lubin (27th, 20:31.33) and Mikayla Jones (28th, 20:38.8).
