The Aurora boys cross country team qualified for the Division I regional competition Saturday.

The Greenmen placed third with 109 points at a 14-team district meet at Trumbull County Fairgrounds in Cortland.

Hudson won the competition with 47 points and Solon was the runner-up (56). Also advancing were Boardman (120) and Stow-Munroe Falls (147).

Boardman’s Mitchel Dunham won the 102-member race with a time of 15 minutes, 53.25 seconds.

Aurora sophomore Matthew Singleton finished second in 16:08.53. Rounding out the top five for the Greenmen were Andrew Ploskunak (17th, 16:41.6), Jack Deptola (22nd, 16:57.95), Justin Hartland (31st, 17:14.94) and Samuel Siedel (37th, 17:29.82).

The regional competition is scheduled to take place Oct. 26 at Boardman High School in Boardman Township. Racing is set to begin at 11 a.m.
