The host Hudson girls volleyball team concluded its season with a hard-fought 25-23, 25-20, 24-26, 25-22 victory over Twinsburg Thursday at Ray "Buck" Hyser Gymnasium.

With the win, the Explorers (16-6) finished 9-5 in the Suburban League National Conference. Prior to the match, Hudson honored seniors Amelia Hoffmeier, Cailynn Sullivan and Ciera Kent.

"What a great match to showcase and honor our seniors who have given so much to our program," Explorers head coach Brad Disandis said. "As expected, Twinsburg presented another tough challenge for us. They are relentless and just don’t go away. They are one of the best defensive teams we’ve played all year. They fight for every ball and make it hard for their opponents to close out matches.

"Once again, I’m really proud of the fight that we show to win some very close sets. In the fourth set, we were down 16-7 and we were kind of unraveling, but we pulled ourselves together and closed the gap and eventually went ahead 18-17.

"We pushed to the finish as Ella Beard had a kill and a stuff block to win 25-22. This was a great test for us [Thursday] to prepare us for the beginning of districts."

Hoffmeier finished with 40 digs, 13 service points and two kills. Brooke Ramlow had 21 assists, 13 digs, eight kills and three blocks and Morgan Gaeta finished with 29 digs, 11 service points, including one ace, and nine kills for Hudson.

Kent finished with six digs and four service points and Page Gross had 10 kills, four digs and three blocks for the Explorers.

Also faring well for Hudson were Anna Faust (14 digs and seven service points), Allyson Yanak (six kills, four digs and two blocks), Rylyn Dearstine (seven kills and five blocks), Melissa Hansen (26 assists and four digs) and Beard (three blocks and three kills).
