The Western Reserve Academy boys soccer team has been dominant throughout the season.
On Thursday, the Pioneers faced a situation they had not seen all season.
Let’s just say it was a humbling experience.
Reserve fell to 10-2-4 on the season after losing to host Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 4-2 Thursday at Royals Stadium in Cuyahoga Falls.
The Royals, who have been a perennial power for the last two decades, raced out to a 3-0 halftime lead.
WRA’s Luis Rosa da Silva and James Doh scored off assists from Dan Hoffman. Justin Luisia scored twice for CVCA (10-2-3) and Zach Zemanski had a goal and an assist for the Royals.
Kaiden Kroselak also scored for CVCA and Matt Shumaker, Chris DeLucia and Jack Hyatt each had one assist.
Goalkeeper Sebastian Staddon finished with two saves for the Pioneers, who had a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams finished with three corner kicks. Royals’ goalie JD Beyerle stopped four shots.
