The host Western Reserve Academy boys soccer team improved to 9-1-3 in 2019 after earning a 4-2 victory over Gates Mills Hawken Thursday.

The Hawks scored the first goal, but the Pioneers took a 2-1 halftime lead, thanks to a pair of goals by Henry Ong.

Orion Mills and Cameron Krueger scored for Reserve after halftime. Mills added two assists and Krueger and Jad Darwiche each had an assist for WRA, which is ranked sixth in the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Division III state poll.

Pioneers’ goalkeeper Sebastian Staddon made seven saves. Hawken had a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
