Aurora resident Brian Wervey is scheduled to be inducted into the University of Mount Union (Alliance) M Club Hall of Fame Nov. 1 and 2.

Wervey is in his 21st season as an assistant coach with the Aurora football team. He is the defensive coordinator/linebackers coach.

The Mentor Lake Catholic graduate was a two-time All-American linebacker in 1995 and 1996.

He earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in both of those seasons and was part of the 1996 NCAA National Championship football team. In 1996, Wervey led the team with 10 tackles for loss, six sacks and was second with nine pass breakups.

To be inducted into the M Club Hall of Fame, a student-athlete must have earned a degree from Mount Union and received two letters in one sport, or one letter in two or more sports. Athletes are eligible for selection 15 years after graduation. Consideration will be based solely on Mount Union varsity participation, preceding graduation.

"The record of the proposed inductee must be exemplary in both performance and in character. There must be no question as to the deserving qualities that the inductee possesses."

The induction ceremony is set for Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Giese Center for the Performing Arts on campus with a reception scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. All award recipients are set to be recognized at halftime of the football game Nov. 2 against Ohio Northern (Ada) University, which is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium. Game tickets are available at the gate for $10.

The ceremony is free and open to the public. RSVP to the Office of Alumni Engagement at or call 330-823-2030 to plan accordingly.
