The Tallmadge boys golf team was no match for its former Suburban League rival Tuesday.

Cloverleaf improved to 17-1 with a 3-0 four-ball, match-play victory over the host Blue Devils (4-4) Tuesday at Brookledge Golf Club in Cuyahoga Falls.

Just one of Tallmadge’s matches went the full nine holes.

"We played a fun and different format from the usual stroke play," Blue Devils head coach Jon Shomo said. "The Colts, champions of the PTC [Portage Trail Conference] Metro, are not 17-1 on the season by accident. They are a solid team up and down the lineup.

"Darin [Hudak] played well in match No. 1. The second match came down to the ninth hole, which the Colts birdied with Christian [Rutan] already in with a par. The third match showed the depth of the Cloverleaf lineup."
