A strong third-place finish in the league tournament starts what is hoping to be a promising post season for the Twinsburg girls golf squad.

"We finished in third place overall in the league after the fourth and final Suburban League Tournament," said coach Ashley Plassard, after the Sept. 18 tourney.

Stow-Munroe Falls won the team crown over Hudson 348-359 while Twinsburg placed third at 371, along with Brecksville (371).

The Tigers beat the likes of Nordonia (372), North Royalton (379), and Wadsworth (393).

Pacing Twinsburg was senior Tyler Gliba, who carded a 91.

Turning in rounds of 92 were Sophia Sayavich and Lyndsey Stephens at Barberton Brookside.

Audra Rosenthal also played well in the tourney with a 96.

"Sophia Sayavich earns honorable mention while Tyler Gliba and Lyndsey Stephens earn first-team all-league honors," said Plassard.

"It was a great week for Twinsburg varsity girls golf — that was the highest finish in years," noted Plassard, regarding the league showing for a team.

"Aiming our sights at sectionals now, and knowing we finished third overall in the National Division this year we are confident in our chances to finish as a team in the top four at sectionals and move onto districts," added the coach.

"We really want to go as a team," said the coach, whose club also won 173-191 over Richfield Revere Sept. 16.

This year's Division I sectional tournament will be at Fox Den Golf Course in Stow on Oct. 2.
