The Aurora volleyball team finished 2-1 at the Chagrin Falls Tournament Saturday.

The Greenmen lost to Suburban League crossover rival Twinsburg 25-23, 25-14 and earned thrilling wins over Shaker Heights Laurel (25-20, 22-25, 27-25) and Shaker Heights (25-18, 24-26, 25-19).

Aurora (6-7) got some good news and bad news this past week. Setter Maggie Bradley recently was cleared to play, but Alayna Fromwiller and Maria Ferrante recently suffered concussions.

"Going into the tournament, we were short-handed with injuries and also had a couple players missing for the ACT," Greenmen head coach Tyler Price said. "We had to switch everything up and the players had to be extremely flexible with what we were asking them to do.

"The first match vs. Twinsburg was a little rough, but that was to be expected with new rotations and substitutions. We found what worked and won the last two matches. It says a lot about the players when we had to move.

"Maria Parks moved from libero to playing all the way around and hitting. Izzy Zuckett moved from defensive specialist to libero, while Maggie Bradley ran a 5-1 at times and Brooke Fishback did whatever we needed, if it was setting, passing or hitting."

Mia Devine and Lauren Vonderhaar had five kills and two blocks for Aurora and Brooke Fishback contributed nine assists and two aces against the Tigers. Maria Parks added nine digs.

Against the Gators, Devin had eight kills and Zuckett and Fishback finished with 11 digs apiece. Bradley contributed 19 assists and Vonderhaar had five blocks. Fishback served four aces.

Vonderhaar led the Greenmen with eight kills and five aces against the Red Raiders. Fishback finished with 15 digs and five aces and Bradley had 11 assists.

"Sitting at 6-7 overall with the injuries we have is nothing to be ashamed of," Price said. "We hope to have some of the injured players back in the next week or so to make a push and get ready for playoffs."
