It was long overdue.

But it finally happened for the Western Reserve Academy girls tennis team.

For the Pioneers, victory never tasted so sweet.

Host Reserve earned its first win of the season after posting a 4-1 victory over Rocky River Monday. With the win, WRA improved to 1-8 in 2019.

Pritam Garcha (6-4, 6-2) and Chelsea Dodson (7-6, 7-4 in the tiebreaker, 6-1) triumphed at second and third singles, respectively, for the Pioneers.

Both of Reserve’s doubles teams of Rowena Ge and Katie Chen and Lauren Landry and Annie Nguyen postested 6-4, 6-3 wins.
