The Tallmadge boys golf team made its 2019 debut at the 17-team Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Invitational Monday at Silver Lake Country Club.
The Blue Devils finished 13th with a score of 400. Stow-Munroe Falls easily won the competition with a score of 311. Cleveland St. Ignatius (322) and Hudson (328) took the next two spots.
The Bulldogs’ Dylan Dunn and Gates Mills Gilmour Academy’s Liam Ottaway each shot a 74 to share medalist honors. Darin Hudak finished in a tie for third place with a 77 to lead Tallmadge.
Also competing for the Blue Devils were Logan Phillips (104), Christian Rutan (107), Isaiah Ulrich (112) and Caleb Fairhurst (113).
"It was the first time four four of our five golfers ever played in a varsity event," Tallmadge head coach Jon Shomo said. "Given that, it's a good starting point with which to measure our improvement as we go along.
"A pretty tough course to start on, but we accept the results and move forward. A fine start for Darin at a good event. Not exactly surprising. but the course was playing tough, so 77 was very solid."
