The Stow-Munroe Falls boys soccer team played three games in very hot conditions July 19 and 20 at the Canton Akron Summer High School Friendlies.

The varsity and junior varsity teams both had 40-minute games against local teams. On July 19, the varsity squad earned a 7-0 victory over Walsh Jesuit.

Rising seniors Jonathan Czerwony, Travis Shrout, Miles Thomas and Tristan Mattson, junior Muamar Mustafa and sophomore Bryce Danus each scored once for the Bulldogs.

Stow posted a 1-0 win over Akron Archbishop Hoban July 20. Mattson scored the lone goal. Mattson also scored the lone goal during the Bulldogs’ 1-0 victory over Massillon Jackson.

Stow also finished second at the Strongsville Adidas National Tournament July 26-28. The tournament featured teams from all over Ohio and Michigan.

The Bulldogs earned a 3-0 win over Toledo Central Catholic July 26. Thomas, Shrout and Mustafa found the nets for Stow.

The Bulldogs also posted a 2-0 victory over Holland Springfield July 26. Shrout and Marcelo Shockey scored one goal apiece for Stow.

Stow had a 0-0 draw against Shaker Heights and earned a 3-0 win over Berea-Midpark July 27. Shockey, Caden Hayward and Shrout each scored for the Bulldogs.

Stow also posted a 1-0 victory over the Michigan Wolves on a goal by Mattson July 27.

On July 28, the Bulldogs earned a 2-1 win over Jackson on penalty kicks and lost to Shaker 1-0 in the title match.

Against the Polar Bears, Johnathan Czerwony found the net for Stow in regulation. The Bulldogs outscored Jackon 4-3 in the penalty-kick shootout, thanks to goals by Czerwony, Shrout, Josh Colvis and Chris Miller.

Stow’s preseason is scheduled to begin Aug. 5. The Bulldogs’ first regular-season game is set for Aug. 17.
