CORE Furniture Bank hosted its first "Stuff the Truck" event June 22 in the Hudson Acme Parking Lot.
Community residents donated two truckloads of furniture and volunteers brought CORE awareness to more than 400 shoppers.
The Hudson High School football team provided volunteers to move the furniture.
CORE Furniture Bank is a non-profit organization that has been giving furniture to Summit County neighbors in need since 1998.
CORE picks up donated furniture throughout Summit County and gives that furniture to families referred by churches and social services agencies. CORE is led and operated by community volunteers, which collectively donate 22,000 hours, annually.
CORE is looking for volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include Saturday-morning escorts to help families pick out their furniture, perform phone interviews of potential recipients and drive trucks to pick up the furniture (no lifting).
CORE has a strategic partnership with the Oriana House residents, who are an integral part of CORE’s operations by providing more than 8,000 volunteer hours, annually.
CORE is supported mainly by trust donations and foundation grants. More information can be found at www.corefurniturebank.org or on Facebook (@COREFurnitureBank).
