The Tallmadge girls track and field team is in first place with 20 points after Thursday’s Division II district meet at Bearcat Stadium in Bedford.

The competition is scheduled to resume Saturday at 10 a.m.

Makayla Bechter qualified for the regional competition with a second-place throw of 33 feet, 10 ½ inches in the shot put. The top four athletes in each event and top four relay teams advanced.

The Blue Devils’ 3,200-meter relay team of Kenna Loveless, Katrina Hunt, Mabinty Krohmah and Ravyn Edge finished third with a time of 9 minutes, 48.45 seconds. Also advancing was Allison Harrell, who placed third in the high jump with a leap of 4-11.

Qualifying for Saturday’s finals were Mia Hurst in the 100 and 200; Kromah in the 200; Edge in the 800; Mackenzie Moran in the 800; Morgan Moses in the 300 hurdles; and the 400 and 1,600 relay teams.
