The Hudson baseball team advanced to district play Thursday.
The second-seeded Explorers earned a 4-3 victory over seventh-seeded Bainbridge Township Kenston in a Division I sectional title game.
The contest took place Thursday at The Ballpark at Hudson. With the win, the Explorers (20-4) are scheduled to host 11th-seeded Shaker Heights in a district semifinal contest Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Explorers rallied from a 3-0 deficit. Hudson scored a run in the bottom of the third inning and two more in the fifth to tie the game.
The Explorers, who finished with just four hits, scored the game-winning run in their final at bat.
Hudson took advantage of seven walks and got a triple from Blake Hartline, who scored twice and also drove in a run. Hartline smashed his triple in the bottom of the seventh and scored after his teammates drew three straight walks.
Nolan O’Connell added two hits and an RBI for the Explorers.
Parker Tallman took the mound in the third and finished the game. He improved to 5-1 in 2019.
