The Hudson girls track and field team is in first place with 24 points after Wednesday’s Division I district competition at Nordonia High School’s Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.
The competition is scheduled to resume Friday at 3:45 p.m.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Emmaline Hannan, Sydney Gallagher, Jordyn Hopgood and Brenna Beucler won a district title with a time of 9 minutes, 36.4 seconds. They won by nearly 11 seconds.
Also capturing a district championship for the Explorers was Molly Stecker, who had a first-place leap of 5 feet, 6 inches in the high jump.
The top four athletes in each event and top four relay teams advanced to the regional competition.
Olivia Chauvin placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 33-6 ½.
Qualifying for Friday’s finals were Klaudia Kosa in the 100 hurdles; the 800 relay team of Dai’Shunai Steward, Marita Johnson, Alyssa Frajter and Emma Hamilton; Lauren Pacsi in the 400; Gallagher in the 300 hurdles; Riley Gaynor in the 800; and the 1,600 relay team of Buecler, Gallagher, Gaynor and Pacsi.
