On the weekend of April 27 and 28, two local gymnasts got to represent Flytz Gymnastics in the Region 5 USAG Regional Gymnastics Meet in Bourbonnais, Ill. This meet hosts the top gymnasts from the region, which includes Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. The following level 7 gymnasts reside in Cuyahoga Falls, and train at Flytz Gymnastics, located at 2900 State Road in Cuyahoga Falls.
Bailee Norris, a fifth-grader at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, had an outstanding performance. Norris won first place on the vault with a near-perfect score of 9.875. This score was good enough to place her second in the nation for Level 7 vault for 2019.
Norris also placed third on floor exercise with a 9.575, third on uneven bars with a 9.325 and fifth on balance beam with a 9.5. These scores resulted in Norris’ highest-ever all-around score of 38.275, which earned her the regional all-around championships at Level 7.
Behind Norris’ lead, Team Ohio’s Level 7 Team won first place in the team competition.
Gabby Suffolk, a seventh grader at Redeemer Christian School, also had a fantastic showing. Suffolk placed sixth on beam with a 9.525, and ninth on vault with a 9.575.
