The Aurora boys track and field team was in sixth place with 13 points after Wednesday’s Division I district meet at Austintown-Fitch High School’s Falcon Stadium.
The competition is scheduled to resume Friday at 4 p.m. The top four athletes in each event and top four relay teams advance to the regional competition.
Jimmy Soukdala advanced after placing fourth with a height of 11 feet in the pole vault.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Matt Singleton, Jacob French, Noah Harrison and Robbie Taylor finished sixth with a time of 8 minutes, 20.48 seconds.
Donovan Crawford captured sixth in the discus with a toss of 142-3. Jacob Matousek placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18-8 3/4.
Graham Aldredge qualified for Friday’s final with a school-record time of 38.97 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. The previous record of 39.22 seconds was set by Dee Brizzolara in 2009.
Also qualifying for Friday’s finals were Jordan DeMicco in the 100 and 200; the 800 relay team of DeMicco, Ryan Kotora, Javonte Douglas and Aldredge; the 400 relay team of James Austin, Jacob Mancini, Jacob Matousek and Douglas; Taylor in the 800; Singleton in the 800; and the 1,600 relay team of Harrison, Taylor, Alex Bibza and Aldredge.
