The Aurora girls track and field team was in seventh place with 11 points after Wednesday’s Division I district meet at Austintown-Fitch High School’s Falcon Stadium.
The competition is scheduled to resume Friday at 4 p.m. The top four athletes in each event and top four relay teams advance to the regional competition.
Leah Angelo was the runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Morgan Schmitt, Madeline Schmitt, Katy Fellenstein and Karsen Zabell finished sixth with a time of 10 minutes, 19.2 seconds.
Qualifying for Friday’s finals were Lauren Tincher in the 100; the 400 relay team of Julia Brezovec, Jane Puzder, Celeste Conley and Tincher; Caitlin Hensley in the 300 hurdles; Fellenstein in the 800; Brezovec in the 200; and the 1,600 relay team of Brezovec, Conley, Puzder and Tincher.
