It has been quite a season for Emily Smithberger.

The standout senior captain made quite a ride off into the sunset Friday.

Smithberger scored a career-high 10 goals as the host Western Reserve Academy girls lacrosse team ended its 2019 season with a commanding 18-6 victory over Brecksville-Broadview Heights.

The Pioneers finished 9-8 this spring and Smithberger wound up with a mind-boggling 82 goals.

Alex Richter and Carlin Szilagyi each scored twice and Olivia Rice, Jen Blossom, Cassidy Williams and Sarah Swasey each had one goal for Reserve.

Reserve lost to Shaker Heights Laurel 11-7 Thursday at the Laurel Butler Campus in Novelty.

Richter scored three times and Rice, Smithberger and Emily Brackin each scored once. Julie Clarke won seven draws and WRA goalie Brooke Barsella made nine saves.
