The Western Reserve Academy baseball team concluded its season by winning a pair of pitchers’ duels Saturday.
The host Pioneers improved to 16-9 in 2019 after earning 1-0 and 2-1 decisions over Doylestown Chippewa.
Jake Pendergraft had a single and an RBI and Matthew Filippelli smacked a single and scored the only run for Reserve in the 1-0 win.
Pendergraft also got the victory on the mound. He scattered eight hits in seven innings of work.
WRA won on its last at bat in the 2-1 win. The game was completed in eight innings.
Noah Barnes drew two walks, stole two bases and scored both runs. Pendergraft and Colin McKenna each had two hits for the Pioneers. Both of Pendergraft’s hits were doubles.
Jack Barnes pitched the final 7 ? innings to get the victory. He allowed five hits and finished with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
