The Hudson boys track and field team is in third place in the National Conference after the first day of the Suburban League Meet, which took place Tuesday at Stow-Munroe Falls High School’s Bulldog Stadium.

The Explorers scored 18 points. The competition is scheduled to resume Thursday at 2 p.m.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Lucas Lay, Luke Good, Adam Beucler and Evan Manley won the National Conference title with a time of 8 minutes, 1.4 seconds.

Marcus Gaines finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 2 ½ inches. Kevin Toth captured eighth in the discus with a throw of 138-4.

Qualifying for Thursday’s finals were Samoid Reed Jr. in the 100 and 200; Ethan Feisthamel in the 400; Jacob Clary in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles; and Hunter Norman in the 300 hurdles.
