When the two teams met last year, it was an opportunity to play in the state championship match.
Unfortunately, it did not go so well for the Hudson girls lacrosse team.
On Friday, the Explorers met their nemesis once again in a contest that wasn’t nearly as illustrious.
Like that infamous 2018 state semifinal showdown, the Explorers still have a lot of work to do.
Hudson suffered a convincing 18-8 defeat to 2018 Division I state runner-up New Albany Friday on the road.
The Eagles also defeated the Explorers 12-4 in last year’s Division I state semifinal matchup.
Sarah Hinkle had three goals, one assist and a match-high five ground balls and Maggie Palumbo finished with two goals and two assists to lead Hudson (8-3), which was missing multiple starters due to other commitments.
Emily Ritenour also scored twice and Hanna Killeen added the other goal for the Explorers. Killeen also scooped up four ground balls. Peyton Farley had an assist.
Hudson lost 16 of 26 draws and committed 12 turnovers. Explorers’ goalie Addie Judson made six saves between the pipes. Hudson scooped up 21 ground balls.
