In 2018, the Hudson softball team won 11 games.
It’s a safe bet the Explorers will pass that total this spring.
Hudson improved to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Suburban League National Conference after earning a tense 1-0 victory over host Wadsworth Tuesday.
Sophomore Maddie Roukey continued her dazzling season with a one-hit shutout. She finished with five strikeouts to improve to 5-0 on the season.
The Explorers scored the lone run in the top of the fourth.
Katie Carrillo, Roukey and Cami Madar each had one-out singles to load the bases.
The Grizzlies got a crucial second out, but Macy Peck made sure Hudson did not come out of the inning empty-handed after ripping a line-drive single off the Wadsworth’s pitcher’s glove. Peck wound up reaching base safely and Carrillo scored from third.
